I'm having a problem (only occurring when playing games), where the computer will freeze and play a buzzing sound loop. The entire computer does not respond at this point, requiring a manual shutdown. This hadn't happened at all until this past summer, and I got this laptop a couple years ago.
Oddly, this problem happens seemingly at random. It used to happen consistently when going to the workshop in "XCOM: Enemy Unknown", but that stopped. It was also happening occasionally when playing "Black Mesa: Source." The only other time I remember it happening was once in "Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion".
After the dust was blown out using compressed air, I haven't had any more problems with these games, so I attributed it to a heating issue. However, now this problem is occurring with "Dead Space" every 5 minutes or so. It also happened recently in "Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasion", which is old and in no way a demanding game for my computer to run. I felt the computer and the air coming out of the fan, and it was nowhere near as hot as it can get without problems. I have updated all my drivers.
The only audio drivers I have are:
"High Definition Audio Device" (Disabled)
"NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)"
"Realtek High Definition Audio"
Again, I've updated my drivers and I'm almost certain it's not a heating issue. Can someone help me find out what's wrong?
Thanks
