inspiron 1545 loses audio (sometimes restart fixes it)

my inspiron 1545  windows 7 has been randomly losing sound the past few weeks and i for the life of me cant figure out why. it makes a kind of pop (best way i can describe it) sound like the speakers do when the computer first powers on but not a speakers blown or some kind of physical damage noise.

ive run the audio troubleshoot, tried to install new and even older audio drivers, ive checked the windows services and made sure that all audio options are running, and even attempted a system restore though none of the restore points work. when the audio cuts out the audio bar on the right has the green line going through it showing that sound is playing but nothing is coming out of the speakers. and i cant imagine theres physical damage done to the computer because most of the time a restart will bring back sound and it sounds perfectly fine until it cuts out again. havent done any major changes that should affect anything between now and then last time it was working either.

i should also note that the idt audio program in the control panel is no longer there. it didnt come stock on my laptop but after i do the driver updates from the dell site it always has been before, not sure if that matters or not. anyways im lost right now so if anyone has any ideas id appreciate to hear them.
