Greetings,
I was given a Latitude D810. I have rebuilt the hard with a new install of XP and downloaded the network, video and Sigmatel audio drivers from the Dell site and installed them. I have also upgraded the memory to 1GB. Everything seems to be working with one exception.
I am using this computer to log into Second Life so that I can run audio sound effects for theatrical productions through the Vivox voice channel. The audio comes from one computer and pipes through a mixer to the laptop. I have done this with my other computers quite well, but for some reason with this one I am getting an almost constant pulsing static. This does not occur when I plug a standard Logitec mic/headset into it. The mic works fine and I get no static. But when I plug in the output from the Behringer mixer or go direct from PC to laptop I get the static. I have tried all the settings I can find on the laptop, I have tried various ports on the mixer and even going direct from the desktop PC that runs the SFX into the laptop and also various cables to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this and how I can eliminate it? Thank you.
Regards,
Craig Allen
