so my moms old inspiron 6000 had a hard drive failure a few years back and recently i needed a laptop for school so i found a 40GB seagate hard drive to replace the old one, installed Windows XP, upgraded the RAM to max capacity and im not that good when it comes to drivers so i just installed all the drivers on the dell page ( an accident waiting to go wrong at some point im guessing) . and so there's the main problem, when the laptop is on the AC power supply it works just fine like a normal laptop until i unplug it and then it shuts down. no "windows shutting down" text it just goes blank.
i have been searching all around the internet for a solution and people say there is sometimes a driver problem with the battery (again not that good with drivers) so i have all them installed : / so I decided to look at the hardware and make sure everythings ok
well the sticker on the battery looks like it has had something spillt on it but the laptop has been sitting near a window and i was thinking is it possible in the winter the freezing temperature outside could freeze the battery causing it to burst resulting in the spilt on like sticker?
the battery's details are...
Li-ion 11.1V 5200mAh
then there's the possibility of the power supply. it sometimes acts weird and i think its just the plug but (and this was under my computer desk away from windows but just encase if it helps in any way here is the information of the power supply
its DELL brand,
input: 100-240V--50-60Hz 1.5A
output: 19.5V==3.34A
if you do know a solution of know if the freezing battery thing is possible pleas let me know because i really need this thing portable soon
