Latitude 6430u, Windows 8.1, audio icon in center of screen

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1. Now, whenever I adjust the volume on my laptop (Latitude 6430u), the Dell volume icon appears in the center of the screen, along with the standard Windows volume slider in the upper left corner.

Everything I've found about disabling this mentioned either Dell QuickSet, ControlPoint, or Systems Manager. However, there are no downloads for any of this applications that are A. compatible with Windows 8 and B. compatible with a Latitude 6430u. All of the solutions seem to be for Windows 7 or XP, or for specific models of laptops, and none of them have worked for me.

I tried downloading Systems Manager, but the download failed and said I had a more recent version installed. I haven't been able to find this version anywhere. I checked programs and features under the control panel, but saw nothing.

How can I get the icon to disappear?
