Audio CD sound distorted on Inspiron 3521

hi,

just bought a new Dell Inspiron 3521, i7, running Windows 8 x64.
CD drive: PLDS DVDRW+- DU-8A5HH
Sound card by Realtek.
All drivers and firmeware came already properlly installed and updated.
When inserted an enhanced audio CD (yankee hotel foxtrot by wilco), any media player i tried (WMP, winamp, VLC) played it distorted, like a mistuned radio.
after googling a bit, i think it's because the CD is copyrighted protected (which is odd, since it's an original CD), but i can't actually tell...
Another interesting fact:
in another laptop we have (Inspiron i3, running the same OS, but with a different CD drive) the CD plays fine. maybe it has somoething to do with the fact that this laptop recognize the CD as enhanced audio CD (my laptop only recognizes it as an Audio CD).
The disc also plays fine in other CD drives (DVD, etc.), and other regular audio CDs work fine on my laptop.
what should I do? has anyone heard about this?
thanks,
Gal.
