Audio coming out too loud, then 'quiets' when hitting fn+audio up (or down)

A for the title. I have an Ispiron 15R

Every kind of audio source I launch, outputs with volume too loud, then 'resets' when I hit the sound keys with fn. Not a big deal to me but it's getting annoying with time. 

All drivers are up to date.
