I have a Dell Precision. I bought it from Goodwill, it has been refurbished from XP to Windows 7 - as part of their job training program.
Everything has been great until I decided to get new speakers for it. I purchased JBL Pebbles. They didn't work so I returned and got a second set. These don't work either so I think the problem is the computer. I have other speakers that are still working fine, the Pebles were an upgrade. I called JBL and they said to update the audio driver. I tried, but apparently Windows 7 is not an authorized OS for the Dell Precision.
(A) Is that true? I don't think Goodwill would be putting the wrong OS on a system as part of a job training program.
(B) Regardless of the above, is there any way to update the driver? (BTW, when I go to Device Manager and have it look for an update to the driver, it says it's up to date.)
(c) Is this even the problem? Is there some setting or something I should be changing to use these speakers? My old speakers work fine, and I'm using the same usb port and the same audio jack.
I appreciate any help or suggestions I can get on this problem. Seems like it should be something simple.
