Issue with installation of audio driver (external)

I'm running windows 8.1 64-bit on an XPS 15 9530 and am trying to install an audio driver.
So i have a .exe file which installs a driver for an external audio device, but it does not install it.It should install and register a .dll file in the system32 folder but after installation the .dll doesn't show up in the system32 folder. I tried it on a different laptop (windows 8.1 64-bit as well) and there it does work. So it must be a laptop issue.
I also tried running as administrator, starting windows in safe mode and to manually add the .dll and register it with the regsvr32 command but no succes. Any suggestions or fixes?
