I have an Inspiron 3531 laptop running Win 8.1 with Dell Extended Battery Life Options enabled. Whenever I start the computer on battery, the computer goes into Power Saver mode which I want to turn off as the laptop runs at a crawl and is almost unusable in this mode. As a result I've created my own power profile that I want to use instead.
In the Extended Battery Life Options dialog, there is a "Settings" button on the "Battery" tab which opens the following dialog:
If I uncheck the "Change power plan to Power Saver" option and select OK I get the following dialog:
Of course "No setting is selected"... I just unselected it. And no, I don't want to restore the default settings as they are what I want to disable. So if I select No I'd assume that it would disable Power Saver Mode and I'd be done, but what happens is that it takes me back to the first dialog and I'm stuck in a loop. If I select Yes, then it re-enables Power Saver mode and I'm back to square one. There's obviously a logic bug in this option selection procedure...
I don't want to turn off the Extended Battery Life service entirely as I want to keep the battery charging management options enabled. And I don't want to manually switch my Power Profile every time I boot up in battery mode due to the performance issues.
Any suggestions. Possibly go into the registry to turn it off?
Thanks
Mark
