Audioquest Dragonfly problems with e-port and Latitude 5440

Hi, I am having problems with my Audioquest Dragonfly v1.2 USB DAC when plugged into my e-port and driven by my newish Dell Latitude 5440.  The DAC works fine when plugged directly into the laptop.  But when it is plugged into the e-port and the computer is freshly booted, the Dragonfly will work for maybe two minutes and then emit an awful screeching sound through the speakers and cut out.  Then DAC operation cannot be resurrected until the computer is rebooted, nor will it work in the USB port on the laptop after this happens until the computer is rebooted.  It seems to me there is clearly a conflict between the computer/drivers, e-port and Dragonfly.

I had an older Latitude 6XXX model and the Dragonfly worked flawlessly through the e-port with that computer.  I thought maybe it was the old e-port I was using, so I upgraded to the newer version with two USB 3.0 ports that is currently specified for the 5440, but get the same *** result.  Doesn't matter what port the dragonfly or other peripherals (Dell Monitor USB cnble, Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard, WD external 1T hard drive) are pugged into on the e-port or what software is driving the audio, iTunes, JRiver Media Center, MS Windows core audio functions, playback fails shortly after starting.

Having to plug the DAC into the port on the computer every time I put it in the dock defeats the purpose of the e-port.

Please help.
