"Stereo Mix" option MISSING, and Microphone 'Advanced' setting greyed out. Can't record Stereo mix or voice. (Windows XP) (Inspiron B130)

Okay, so I'm using Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron B130. First, of all, I'm pretty certain it has a built-in microphone, because about a week ago, it seemed to be picking up on my voice. A few days ago, I was recording a game, using only the stereo mix option. Suddenly yesterday, however, it disappeared from Volume Control>Options>Properties>Recording, meaning the option is literally not there any more. And in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio, "sound recording", the 'Advanced' button is grayed out. And same with Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices, under Voice>Voice Recording, the Advanced Button is ALSO grayed out, meaning I can't select it. Also, the Microphone is no longer able to pick up on my voice or anything. This has all happened within the past week, and no, I have not done anything to it that could have caused the microphone any damage. Does anybody know what I can do to fix at least one of these things? PLEASE, if so, help me. Thank you.
