My XPS 15 seems to have its power save mode backwards. When I plug in my power supply, the screen dims and the volume reduces itself significantly. It does not change the volume setting, though it does change the brightness setting. What I mean is that if my volume is set to 50, while on battery, and I plug in, the volume suddenly decreases about %50, but the volume meter still says 50. The volume stays reduced until I reboot the computer, or I put it to sleep and wake it up. It's really weird.
For example, I just was watching a video on youtube while on battery with normal volume levels. When I plugged the power supply in with the video still playing, volume dropped by about %50. Now, even if I turn the meter all the way to max volume, it's not as loud as it was before I plugged the power supply in. If I remove the power supply, volume does not change. So this happens once per 'session'. If changing the speaker volume while on battery is part of power save, then I would expect two things:
1-It works the other way, delivering more power to the speakers when plugged in and less when on battery
2-It would not only alter volume once per session but would always change it when I go from battery to power supply and vice versa
The brightness similarly dims when I plug in the power supply, but it does actually change the meter. And I can increase the brightness afterwards. So while that it is bizarre that the screen dims when plugged in instead of the other way around, this isn't as significant a problem.
I cannot find anything relating to speaker volume in the power save settings. Any ideas?
