So my boss bought us some new laptops, in mine he had to uninstall windows8 but then he installed it back again, but this time the audio was gone.
At first I read that uninstalling the audio driver and installing it again will solve this, so I went to the device manager > Sound, video and game controllers and I uninstall the only thing* in there which was
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
then I restart and tried to install the audio driver that I downloaded from here http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-14z-5423 but the installShield gave me this message "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted".
And now inside of 'device manager > Sound, video and game controllers' I have:
High Definition Audio Device
* I don't know if this is relevant but I noticed that my coworkers have both 'High Definition Audio Device' and 'IDT High Definition Audio CODEC', and I've always had just one of them.
